Hello my knitty friends! I have promised to review my new Knitter’s Pride Melodies of Life Interchangeable Needle Set, and so I shall! I have been using these new needles for about three weeks now, and here are my brief thoughts.
The needles come in a decorative and fairly sturdy box with a magnetic closure. I like a nice decorative box, myself. Although, I will say, for storage purposes I would prefer a smaller needle case made of fabric for portability. I may have to find one for this set and keep the box to hold other things.
You can see a few of the needle sets are out, those are just being used on projects at the moment. The sizes in this set are from US Size 4 to 11, or 3.5mm to 8mm. As you can see, they are brightly colored, with each size being a different color. I am definitely a fan of metal needles for my knitting, and the fact that these are colored are a bonus. It is motivating to work with pretty needles!
The Melodies of Life set comes with cords and notions also, some of which are not pictured as they are also happily occupied with my works in progress. Four cords are included: one 24 inch, two 32 inch and one 40 inch cord. The cord sizes are also colored differently so that you can differentiate them. There are also three yarn needles with loops at the ends rather than eye holes, which I have found easier to use than a regular eyelet needle. And finally, there are sets of stoppers for stitches on hold, keys for tightening the needles. All of these notions are housed in a musical themed notions bag.
Knitting with these needles is delightful! The colored portion of the needle is slightly matte finish so your stitches don’t slip off, but the tip can slip and knit easily. The cord joins are very smooth and the cord itself is highly flexible and easy to work with. These needles are a bit heavier than my Hiya Hiya Sharps (which feel as though they are hollow) but I have not found the weight to be any kind of hinderance.
Overall, these are excellent needles and I highly recommend them! You may want to buy a needle case along with it, but if you’re anything like me, you’re happy to do a little extra knitty shopping 🙂
