Elphaba Shawl Pattern is Live!

Hello dear knitting friends! My latest knitting pattern, the Elphaba Shawl, is now live on Ravelry! Inspired by the misunderstood “Wicked” witch herself, Elphaba Thropp, this shawl was designed with yarn from Dragon Hoard Yarn Co. in her Defying Gravity Kit. The kit itself was inspired by the musical Wicked, so I took Trysten’s yarn inspiration and ran with it!

This shawl is a faroese shawl construction, which might sound lofty, but I promise it’s a simple pattern! The center panel is a consistent number of stitches in a chevron pattern, which is easy to memorize once you get started. Wings are created with increases on either side of the center panel.

This shawl blocks out to a nice medium size, but only requires one skein (about 80 grams) of a main color and one 20 gram mini skein for the contrasting stripe color. Great for stash busting! It is a fairly quick knit as it only requires about 460 yards. Make one for you and one for a wicked friend!
